Wedding Update Part one

Rhonda & Duncan

Our Wedding Plans.....the story so far.....
November, 2007

Hello!
Before I go any further, I must say a very BIG THANKS for all the
prayers, messages of congratulations, and the almost countless
number of wonderful cards (need a bigger mantle piece now!) Since
arriving back in England in September, I really don’t know where all
my spare time has gone, and have only now just about caught up
and got back into some sort of routine again.
So please accept my apologies for not getting in touch before now, as I guess that you might
be itching to hear the “wheres”, “hows” & “whens”!
I’m hoping to speak with you all soon, but until then..........
I shall begin with the “how” we met, but will first off, start with a bit of an intro.
As most of you know, I’m a Christian, and believe in God, believe that he gave me life, and has given me free choice; to either live my life in the way that God wants me to live, which I know to be what’s best & right for me, or, to quite ol’ Blue Eyes –“do it my way”, which in the short term, might seem like a great idea, but won’t get me to heaven, and I’d be missing out on living life in the way that God has intended me to live life. I have my Parents, Margaret & Richard, to thank for bringing me up in the right way, in a loving Christian home, so another really BIG THANKS goes out to you, Ma & Pa.
Okay, so back to how Rhonda & I first met. It was way back in December, 2005, and even before I’d got to know Rhonda, I realised that she was someone who made sure that the good ol’ English tradition of the guy making the first move didn’t get in the way of her saying hello and introducing herself!!! At that time, Rhonda was on a Careforce overseas Youth Ministry work Project in Colchester for St. Luke’s Church. We’d been in contact for a couple of months earlier, writing e-mails. I guess when Rhonda felt happy that I wasn’t some kind of stalker, she suggested that we meet up. So meet up we did, at Costa Coffee in Colchester. We seemed to connect straight away, and it was a relief that we didn’t struggle for words (don’t you just hate those long silences?!!) I was blown away by how beautiful Rhonda was (and still is of course!) –she’s a real looker, one of God’s finest works in my opinion! Yes, she’s got different colour skin, and yes, she’s got a different accent, as her home Country is Trinidad in the Caribbean, but what really stood out from when we first met was how passionate she was about God, her enthusiasm for doing God’s work, and getting his message out there amongst the young people of Colchester. We’re all equal in God’s eyes, and for me, all Rhonda’s differences are good (wouldn’t it be a bit boring if we all looked the same?), and Rhonda’s differences in my life have only added happiness and countless blessings so far, and I thank God for causing our lives to meet.
Since then, our friendship blossomed into the love and respect which we now have for one another. In Rhonda’s second year of working with young people, she moved up to Saltburn-by-the-Sea, a pretty little town on the east coast of Yorkshire. Cue a fair few miles clocked-up in weekend visits, with Rhonda coming down on the train to visit whenever she had some free time. Cont'd
